A Travel to the Philippine’s Tip

CAPE SAN AGUSTIN

“LAST BUT NOT THE LEAST.”

Who would have ever thought that the Philippine’s southeasternmost part  hides a very fascinating place? Cape San Agustin, commonly called as Parola is a flourishing attraction situated in Lavigan, Governor Generoso, Davao Oriental. It was a 2 to 3-hour private vehicle ride from the crossroad terminal of Municipality of San Isidro, Davao Oriental.

Parola has proved itself to people who seek for adventure. The place will welcome you with fresh air and appealing sea waves.

The Lighthouse

It has three towers: two old lighthouses and a new one. If you have the guts, you can climb the old ones to have a wide-angle view of the Celebes Sea.

You can also go down to enjoy the water as they hit the big rocks through following the trail and you can even cross the islet if it is a low tide.

The Altar

Another must-see spot is the so called “The Altar”, a conformation that looks like a cathedral facade.

It is half a kilometer walk from the site and you can choose whether to use the shortcut or the adventurous one which is to walk along the bay and climb through the edgy rocks.

The Road

Additional reward is the journey: the zigzag road, nice scenery, lovely beaches, animals and hospitable people along the highway, the centennial tree, and several breathtaking stopovers.

Visiting Cape San Agustin is an extraordinary experience. Aside from showcasing the beauty of nature, it will make you appreciate the simplicity of life and the value of time. Since there is no signal, one cannot use cellphone or internet so the only way to spend one’s time is to savor the moment, take pictures and enjoy each other’s company. It was my second-time visit to the place and I’m still mesmerized, truly a hidden paradise. UNSA MAY GIHULAT PATARA SA PAROLA! -#MAGventures
